Have you been out into the desert? Is it truly barren or is it like much of AZ & NM - plants but far apart. We were going to Lk Havasu to visit Dad one Spring and what was just gravel with scattered plants was green?? As soon as sufficient water hits it comes on like a lawn?? Neat to see. ART
It is very rare we actually land out there and we are usually flying at a speed and altitude that it is hard to see really small plants. The times I have landed it is completely devoid of any visible plant life. The only places I have seen turn green after rain is where the land has been plowed and planted. There are places where all the low areas are plowed and there isn't a green thing in sight (or a house for that matter). Some times you can see where they have built really small dams (about 1' high) to try to slow some of the runoff but most of the time it looks like they just plant a lot of places hoping some will grow. From what I have seen about a third of the plowed areas grow anything.
