This is what the cockpit looked like. The amazing thing is that they got it all back together and the only thing messed up was a couple of radio connections which we fixed pretty quickly.

Hi David; love your photos. makes you feel closer somehow. glad you got 818 fixed - at least for now. are all your flts at night? i see it is still 100deg. we got our first real rain today - low 50/s all day. worked outside on yard until too wet & cold to continue - not too smart but fun.
got SW tickets to SA for first two wks of nov (11/1-11/14)- online yet!! i'm so far behind the world electronically i know i'll never catch up, but using what i can understand.
got 130 ch of tv last thurs, but co. in process of upgrading so have only seen mon. nite FB so far )~:}. no up all nite with Ronda anymore - too bad (~:} But do have encore westerns - lots of old "B" ones from the 30's & 40's - my childhood Sat. movies.
liked the photo of the canyons along the river. evidently water at some time. is it more green to the east & north? can't see how the country could support 30 MM before oil. Surely Nebuchadnezzar, Darius the Mede & Cyrus could have found a better place to live!!
heard of a great place to hike in ID north of charles. Granite mts with lakes & trees. Maybe when you come back??? Love you son & pray often for you. Love DAD

I can't believe you have 130 channels of TV but I am sure Andrew has already given you a hard time about it:) I would love to see some weather in the 50's but without the rain. If it is like other places in Iraq I have been it will be a mess here when it rains. It actually feels cool here in the morning before the sun rises and it is in the low 70's. It is a little greener to the east but once again mostly along the rivers. I hear the north is green up in the mountains but I have never been up there during the day (everything looks green through NVGs). I do almost all my test flights during the day but I can't really get into when we fly our missions on the blog - you will have to ask Wendi about that :) That hiking sounds wonderful - definitely save me a spot. Thanks for the prayers - love you guys.
