This is one of our more interesting landing zones - on top of a dam. It actually works really well but the area is a little tight and with high winds it can be tricky because the currents change so much as the wind goes over the dam. Other guys have said it is disconcerting taking off over the water on dark nights because it appears that there is nothing below you but I have only been in there during the day so far. It is another one of those spots that I would love to shut down and have lunch but I don't think that is ever going to happen. The last thing they want is a helicopter stuck on their deck.

This comment will reguire a bit of research...but only to your own blog. Please reference comments to you about the American West and Village Missions and our prob. low chances of being picked up by them again. It looks as though they couldn't get anyone to go to the Navajo Reservation either. Oh well. I guess we can manage. (: When? Prob. April of this year. For sure? We assume for sure but in Village Missions speak we will not expect any information soon and that info, when it comes, will be ...oops! ENTIRELY wrong. (: No matter. For Arizona...Northern Arizona..just a skip from the Grand Canyon..we will wait happily. Does anyone here (as in Pendleton) or other family persons know of this offer? No..we thought, military style, to wait until we really know...I was just getting used to being here. Seeing Sara and Steve kind of regularly with more visits anticipated. Maybe we can entice visitors. It was interesting. Art just asked me, the day before THE phone call "If you went somewhere again...what would you do differently?" And I, after thought (of course (: said "Nothing I guess...take a lot less stuff I suppose." How long would we be gone? No idea. But we would, like before, be temporary...until a REAL person shows up. I did tell my Mom (message left) Her reaction? Don't know yet. Hopefully OK with it. Closer to San Antonio. (: What else do I know about this? Absolutely nothing (: Hey....just in case I neglect your blog for a day or so. Happy Days with wonderful Wendi. (:

That is wonderful news! We now have another place to visit albeit in the winter months only :) I think I have seen enough dirt and rock during the summer for at least a few years. A few months ago I read another Tony Hillerman book - he makes it sound like such a fascinating place. And I can certainly see the parallels with Galena (at least with the attitudes of the locals). I am glad you guys have the energy for that - it seems rather exhausting to me. God does work in interesting ways. Enjoy it :)
