This is me shooting the M240. The guys linked together 300 rounds and let me blast away at some old cars. It is amazingly accurate even out to 800 yards. I found it is a lot easier to shoot from the air - just easier to see the target and you don't get all the hot casings building up around your arms but all in all it was a lot of fun.

The shooting sounds like fun. I remember being impressed with the BAR. It was an auto but only had a 20 rd. clip & weighed 16#. But prone w/bipod I could put 2rd bursts in a half man target at 500 yds time after time. Also got to shoot a 30 cal. machinegun. You didn't aim, just walked the rounds into the target Never shot a 9MM - think I would rather have a 40 cal. Thanks for all the photos. Makes you feel closer somehow. Love you DAD
That sounds like a great moose gun to me. You should slip one into your bag when you come home. ;-)

The shooting was fun but not enough to spend my own money on it :). The 9MM didn't shoot too bad but our weak link we have found are the clips. If you don't rotate clips on a regular basis the springs get compressed and it will double feed every time. I even tried pulling the springs out and stretching them every so often but that still didn't work. Our guys know this but they still don't do it. So I don't have a lot of confidence if we actually had to use them. We also carry M-4s (the new version of the M-16) on the aircraft which would be our primary defensive weapon (away from the aircraft).
Dave,
It could certainly put down a moose but I don't think you would want to carry it around - it weighs about 30lbs empty :)
