These pictures look a lot like the ones from Mars. The only difference is that for some reason people live here.

Looks like NASA can save their (our) money on a space program to Mars and go see you instead.
Posted comment allows me to ask: Do official political persons who travel to find out things ever make it to your level? (No offense intended.) Your level could be very high for all I know. I know you had USO people. I mean elected officials or other groups...reporters? Are reporters allowed to show up if they can get a ride? How is imformation controlled? Or is it? How is access to planes, you, etc. controlled? (These questions prompted by wondering "Would it be easier to go to Mars than to see you?" (:

Nice idea but sometimes it is easier to get money for the life you don't know about than the life you do.
As you can imagine the media is handled at levels way above us. We are instructed to not answer any questions and direct them to either our commander or a PR person (if we happen to know who that is). Our day to day existence is very routine and to tell you the truth I don't think there is much interest unless you have some personal connection. I haven't heard of any elected officials passing through here. The only one I saw was the Alaskan governor down in Kuwait but she was over here to visit the Alaska National Guard unit that was here then (she didn't know we were here). I would think that anyone looking for information would go to the people who actually make the decisions and set the policies rather than those who carry them out. Talking to people at our level can give you a different perspective but it is usually very myopic.
All the pilots qualified on our M4s before coming over here and we have had several ranges since then where people have been able to go shoot their weapon.
