This is Tony as we were sitting in refuel. It was the first time I have flown with him in a long time. A very good guy to fly with except he always does all the work and makes me lazy :)

If you hadn't told me. I would have said "Hey! There is David!" You fellows all look alike (: Reminds me of a Dave Berry article about vacation pictures. It is Mr. Berry's opinion that all vacation pictures are a single shot of Mr. Fijimoto and his wife on a beach in Los Angeles. This picture is reproduced by the millions and sent around the world to be squinted at by millions of exhausted vacationers "Hey! There we are on the beach at...." This was, however, before digital cameras, which, regardless of the skill of the holder, take a LOT better picture. (: Our Oregon coast pictures, year by year, were SO much alike that we stopped taking them. So I repeat..."Hi Tony! If I didn't know better...I would have thought you were David." (: No comment on the skill of the photographer...must be the spotted suit and the hat. (:

It is hard for me to get pictures of myself. They are always taken by someone else and I never seem to get those. Probably with a little more initiative I could but pictures of me never seem as interesting because I am with me all the time. But I guess that doesn't apply to you guys so I will get some more :) It is true that I am having a harder time getting pictures of new things - after nine months of this it all starts to look alike.

Maxine off to ID. Bad roads for Randy (her Les Swaub son) to come over so we offered to drive her part way back. Switched off at Hildegard Park & returned. Snow flurries & sleet but roads OK. Got a sore back out of the moving - not hurt, just tired. Miss my dead lifts & squats. If we don't go to CA, I think I'll rejoin the RAC.
102 deg.!! Already!! Gad Zooks - summer arrives with a bang there. Had such wonderful weather here in the 1st part of March that the painter planned on starting. Have hardly seen the sun since. The foothills have been white, yellow, white, yellow numerous times - neat to watch - love Spring! Hope to get in a Hells Canyon hike with Suzy soon. Just a short one - Hat Pt. down to the cabin & back via Freeze Out Pass. It is so beautiful on the Spring.
Got our tax refund. Will be applied to our various house debts. I hoarded my oil checks & accumulated enough to purchase a GPS & a camera w/6x lens. Have to learn how to use them both soon.
Thanks for the pics & journal. Makes us feel closer. Cheers!! ART

The faux dad remarks...this is an interesting communication medium. I did not know until I read your blog that Art was considering a Hells Canyon trip this Spring. With me. This would be great. I wonder how short "short" is. Hopefully not a legnth that would produce tears. (Of frustration of course...not fatigue and pain) (: Although all 3 are, have been, possible. Picutres of Tony are very acceptable. As I repeat...all you fellows look alike in the suits. (:

I am glad you guys made it back. Good luck with that GPS and camera. I could have sent you my GPS - I only rarely use it. I find it so much easier to read a map than lug around the batteries for the thing. Besides as you know where I usually hike in Alaska it is pretty hard to get lost when two days later you can still see where you started :) Be nice to Mom - you know what it is like to hike with those of differing abilities :)

Ah yes...the Denali trip. (: Art was VERY happy but aware of the, how shall we say....differences in bounding and leaping abilities. And the overall enthusiasm for going farther out and further in. (: Which he could remember, as from former times, but was surprised to notice that he was actually content seeing others leap from far back. (: This was an excellent mental preparation for hiking with me....where he can again be top dog but with compassion. The best of both worlds. If he remembers. Thanks for the reminder. (: Thank you also for question answering. The ultimate cool would be enjoying the ride down in a malfunctioning CH-47. (: I would wish to be so focused but I squeek at the unexpected hand on the shoulder....AND barking dogs within fences. I do have more questions but right now am going to watch a movie about Scotland and a guy who inherits a castle. Completely fanciful but easy to watch. (: You are correct...I do not associate break-ins and car stealing with Pendleton either Our driveway is a cut through for a variety of persons...school track teams and random kids and dog walkers. We now lock the car and not because of Maxine's experience. Our gas card (fortunately the car search person must have been too young to drive...) was on the floor...flashlight gone and a bit of change. RATS! A Chicago moment. Did I tell you of walking down Clark in Chicago...a guy coming the other way...carrying a window box with 3 plants inside, still quivering. "Hey lady! Want to buy some plants?" It was really funny. And also awful. Still I loved Chicago. (: Was just more alert. (: Off to our downstairs cimema. Now that we have HEAT down there...part of the usable house. It snowed today. Not much..but still...a nice bit of white. I have dug up the yard to make artistic and wonderous flower beds. Square flower beds are not the way to go. Art trusts me in these activities which is a certain amount of pressure but not unwelcome. It will look good. Unless you are into straight angles. In that case you would think I ruined the yard. (: I keep thinking we are leaving so am on a kind of garden hold but I have no idea whether we are or not. Kind of an Army feeling. (: Thanks for words coming our way. Also great pictures. If you are stumped for new shots, Chinooks are always welcome. We love the look of these things. How is the war ...it is not a collage...it is a mock battle scene..small scale...put together by one of the guys..How is that going? With the rat? And other great stuff? I would be happy to have a picture of this. Assuming there are new developments. (: I wouldn't mind an update. Right up my alley of interest. Did Wendi tell you? She was the featured attraction in what I thought was a wonderful wall hanging with a Seward area Alaskan trip theme. Wendi was not exactly comfortable with her center role but I knew it (and she)was beautiful. You will love it. (: I had it over the fireplace but in deference to Wendi...have moved it from the rude public gaze. Now it is for our eyes only. Until you visit that is. (: Once again, Good Night and thanks for the visit. (:
