This is all of us hanging out inside the broke aircraft waiting on a new pump to arrive with the old pump sitting on the floor with all its gears shredded.

Hey David... It was great to hear your voice on our answering machine last week. :) Man, it seems like it's been forever since we chatted with you on the computer that one night. I'm glad to hear that you are doing well this Christmas season. Has it been hard getting into the mood of Christmas without snow and cold weather. I know we were joking about that a couple of weeks ago when I was down in Phoenix/San Diego. Everyone was out decorating their houses and lawns for Christmas, and we were wearing shorts to do so. It just doesn't seem right. They kept asking me if people decorate like this in Fairbanks. I told them not a whole lot since the snow would cover up most of the decorations or the cold temperatures would make most of the stuff they have inoperable. I thought of you when I was in San Diego, though. One evening we had dinner on the USS Midway and then got a chance to go up on the deck and check out the aircrafts used in various wars, etc. I walked through one of them and commented that it is what I pictured you having talked about before, with the tight quarters and meshlike seats in two rows along the side. Then when I saw this picture posted, it was exactly like what I had seen. Anyhow, just thought I would let you know that I'm thinking of you and praying that each day goes faster than the next until you are able to come back home. I know AT LEAST one person in the household misses you...but really it's three of us! God's Blessings, Jen

Jen (and Ellen of course)
It is good to hear from you guys. As far as getting into the mood of Christmas I can't say that I have in the traditional sense. It's not so much the environment, it's more just how different everything is over here. So much of the Christmas holiday is the result of memories and traditions and over here nothing compares to any other experience. It really doesn't "feel" like Christmas but people have put a lot of work into making it special and we really appreciate the effort. Thanks a lot for your prayers and I look forward to seeing you guys in a couple of months. I am glad you got the chance to escape the weather for a few weeks. Tell Jack hi for me when you talk to him next. Take care.
