A view looking into Syria. Right at the border everything gets a lot greener and just looks more prosperous. It's a stark reminder of how much the basic infrastructure of Iraq has suffered.

My! That country is really flat. Flew across some like that, sans houses, on our flt back from SA. I thing we were over S. central OR along the Nev. border somewhere.
2nd snow today. got 2/3 " on the ground - heavy, wet stuff - good for snowballs & sleding. fun to watch the people trying to go to work - front wheels just spinning until they start to slide, then on come the brakes which locks up all 4 wheels as they slowly slide off the crown of the road. some let off and regain control - other don't let up until the slide into the curb.
I've got a cold, so plan on staying in the house at least until the crazyness stops (~:}
like your roof "deck". ours is almost finished. look fwd to sitting out there watching the sunsets * maybe even a couple of sunrises.
The Charles duck hunt is on for the 12-17th. I told him I would just walk along with them this year - no way he said, I'll buy the lic. & provide a gun & we (charles, mike & steve) will shoot your ducks (~:} hope you will visit me in jail. Cheers!! DAD

Dad,
That's good news about your deck - i look forward to finally seeing it. As long as it isn't too hot :) I can only imagine what the driving is like on the north hill - what a mess. I am glad to hear the duck hunt is on again this year. I have pictures of the last trip hanging in my room. Tell the guys hi for me and stay safe - I won't be able to visit you for awhile :)
