This is Walls up in Al Asad hauling a passenger's gear out to the aircraft. We have a great reputation for hauling whatever they give us and it is all due to the hard work of the guys in the back. As pilots all we do is coordinate it but they get to do all the heavy lifting. It is amazing the stuff that gets brought out to us but somehow they fit it all in.

I am taking advantage of all this space to practice my internet skills (: Your Dad said, as he left for the basement..."You can ask me ANYTHING about the computer and I won't be impatient. I promise." Wow!! I did ask, a few minutes later and he wasn't impatient. He was very carefully and elaborately patient which showed me how hard he was trying to be patient. (: So the next time I figured it out myself. Which was good for both of us. One elaborate patience a night is enough. Especially during the news. We missed your phone call today. Sorry! We were probably asleep. (: Resting from home-owner responsibilities. Which have been mostly giving people money to do things we can not do. I love this concept and would toss money around a LOT if I had more of it. The deck will be great as will the HEAT in the basement. Kirk, the Pendleton Electric company man, said "We can install your heaters tomorrow. Will you be home?" "You bet! We will be available from 3am until midnight." A pause. "Would 7:30 be OK?" (: Yes it would. The basement is freezing. Well it actually is not. It is only 55 but 55 surrounded by 18 inch stone walls FEELS freezing. We dress, Alaskan style, to go downstairs and that is what Art was doing when he offered to be patient. (: We will never tire of Iraq pictures with Syria just over the horizon so if you take them we will look. Very enthusiastically. And if we can't afford to run these basement heaters I will contact you to send money as well as blog updates. (:

Mom,
I have experienced the computer thing from your end. The guy running our system (Tony) is very patient with me so I am always reluctant to ask him any questions for fear of burning bridges before I really need him :) It sounds like your house is coming along. I know what you mean about the money - so far that is pretty much how we are taking care of our house :) Other guys talk about how much time and effort it is to keep the house up but for us it is just a matter of money - if we don't have it then the house doesn't get fixed :) I will probably try to give you a call again tonight my time but don't worry if I miss you - I don't want to set a time because there is a good chance I won't be able to make it. Love you guys.
